Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate track & field teams will compete for the third consecutive weekend as the Spartans travel to Johnson City, Tenn. this weekend for the Tri-Star Track Classic held at Science Hill High School.
Terry Newell and Sarah Hill set school records in the men's and women's 200-meter dash at the Georgia Tech Invitational last weekend. Newell recorded a time of 21.41 while Hill turned in a mark of 24.12 as both scored top-10 finishes against a strong field. In addition to the school records, there were multiple personal bests recorded at both the Georgia Tech Invitational and the USC Open.
Field events begin on Friday at 1 p.m. with the men's shot put and women's javelin. Friday's track events kick off with the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase at 6:30 p.m. On Saturday, field events begin at 9 a.m. with the men's hammer throw. A busy day of track events start at 1:15 p.m. with the women's 4x100-meter relay and concludes with the men's 4x400-meter relay just after 6 p.m.

The Spartans are off for exams and will return to action at the ASUN Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by North Florida on May 11-12.
