Spartanburg, S.C. –USC Upstate will travel to the University of South Carolina this weekend as the Spartans compete in the Weems Baskin Invitational at Sheila & Morris Cregger Track.
The Spartans opened the outdoor season last weekend at the 49er Classic in Charlotte, N.C. Terry Newell set a school record in the men's 100-meter dash as he finished with a time of 10.73. In addition to Newell's school record, there were three additional times or marks that were among the top-five in school history in each specific event.
Sarah Hill was named the ASUN Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week on Wednesday. The Greer, S.C. native finished third in the 100-meter dash last weekend with a personal best time of 11.84, which is the third-fastest in school history. Hill also finished in eighth place in the 200-meter dash at 24.51.
The meet begins at 9 a.m. Friday with the men's javelin and women's hammer. Friday's track activities begin with women's 400-meter dash heats at 3 p.m. and conclude with the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase on Friday at 7:30 p.m. Saturday's field events begin with the men's discus at 9 a.m. with the women's 1,500-meter run opening the running events at 10 a.m.

USC Upstate stays in Spartanburg next weekend, competing in the Terrier Relays at Spartanburg High School.
