Dolores (Dodie) Anderson is the first-ever honorary member to be inducted into the USC Upstate Athletics Hall of Fame and first recipient of the Bob and Dodie Anderson Award.
Anderson, a 1981 graduate of then USC-Spartanburg, has committed the better part of her life giving back to her alma mater in many ways. She earned her degree from Upstate in interdisciplinary studies.
Anderson was presented the Distinguished Alumni Award in 2006 on the 25th anniversary of her graduation from Upstate. She is the former owner of Anderson Hardwood Floors in Clinton and Walterboro, S.C., the largest privately owned hardwood floor manufacturer in the United States. Anderson is a strong supporter of the Upstate Athletic Program, especially men's basketball. She received the University's Founders Day Award in 1986, was inducted into the University's Honor Fraternity in May 2005, and is a former member of the Carolina Piedmont Foundation Board of Directors.
In 2014, she was awarded a Doctorate of Humane Letters during the school’s spring commencement.
Anderson also helped usher the Upstate athletics program into the Division I era with a charitable gift that led to the extensive renovation of the G.B. Hodge Center. The gift that Anderson made to Upstate is the largest single gift to the Athletics Department in University history.
She is the widow of Bob Anderson and the mother of four daughters, eighth grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
