Spartanburg, S.C. – After playing their last six matches on the road, the USC Upstate women's tennis team returns to the USC Upstate Tennis Complex on Thursday to face Appalachian State at 2 p.m. The Spartans will then travel to Elon on Friday for a 1 p.m. match.
Upstate is 1-6 following a weekend split. The Spartans earned their first win of the 2017 season on Saturday with a 5-2 win over Campbell before closing out the weekend with a 6-1 loss against UNCW.
Appalachian State is 2-5 following a 6-1 victory over Radford on Saturday. The Mountaineers have wins over Western Carolina and Radford with losses coming against NC State, Campbell, UNC Asheville, East Carolina and Old Dominion. Appalachian State leads the all-time series 1-0 after winning the first meeting last year.
Elon is 5-3 following a 6-1 win over Towson on Saturday. In addition to its win over Towson, the Phoenix have victories over North Carolina A&T, Radford, South Carolina State and Meredith College with defeats coming against Duke, Furman and William & Mary. Elon leads the all-time series 5-0.
Upstate returns to action next Saturday at Furman with a 3:30 p.m. match.
