Upstate Readies for Weekend Matches with Wofford, Presbyterian

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate women's tennis team looks to return to its winning ways Friday at 2 p.m. when the Spartans head across town to take on Wofford from the Reeves Tennis Center.

Upstate enters the match coming off a three-game trip out west that saw the Spartans face No. 71 Oregon, Portland and Eastern Washington.

Freshman Anna Zoske leads the Spartans with a 2-1 record in singles action and has played at both the No. 3 and No. 4 positions thus far this season. In doubles action, the combination of Taylor Cohen and Talia Rojas have posted a 2-2 overall record, while Isabel von Stryk and Ana Baran have also put together a 2-2 mark from the No. 2 position.

Wofford will host its home opener Friday after opening the season with a 7-0 win Jan. 24 at North Carolina A&T. Last season, Upstate posted a dominating 6-1 victory over the Terriers, as the Spartans won the doubles point and captured the first three singles matches to cruise to the win.

Presbyterian enters the weekend with a 1-1 overall record after opening the season with a 7-0 win at Savannah State. The Blue Hose, however, suffered a 7-0 loss at Georgia Southern in their most recent match. Upstate has won two straight matches against Presbyterian.
