Spartanburg, S.C. – Eight home matches and challenging non-conference competition highlight the USC Upstate women's tennis 2014 spring schedule, head coach Dr. Oliver Trittenwein announced Tuesday.
Upstate opens the season with a home match against Troy (Jan. 17) before heading west to Eugene, Ore., to take on the University of Oregon (Jan. 24). The Spartans will remain in Eugene for neutral court matches with Portland (Jan. 25) and Eastern Washington (Jan. 25) before returning to South Carolina for a matchup at cross-town rival Wofford (Jan. 31).
The Spartans open the month of February by play hosting to Presbyterian (Feb. 1) before embarking on a two-match road trip at Campbell (Feb. 8) and UNC Greensboro (Feb. 9). After a home match with UNC Asheville (Feb. 14), Upstate closes February at Davidson (Feb. 21), Gardner-Webb (Feb. 25) and Charlotte (Feb. 28). Matches against Nicholls State (Mar. 1) and at Georgia Southern (Mar. 30) conclude non-conference competition.
Upstate will welcome Atlantic Sun foes Stetson (Mar. 14), Florida Gulf Coast (Mar. 15), Mercer (Apr. 11) and Kennesaw State (Apr. 12) to the USC Upstate Tennis Complex. The Spartans will take to the road for conference matches against Lipscomb (Mar. 21), Northern Kentucky (Mar. 22), North Florida (Mar. 29) and ETSU (Apr. 5).
"We have the opportunity to play some very good teams to open the season when we travel out to Oregon," Trittenwein said. "We're excited about our non-conference schedule and look forward to playing a very challenging A-Sun schedule too."
The A-Sun Championships are scheduled Apr. 18-20 from Jacksonville, Fla.
