Spartan Trio Advance to Semifinals at Upstate Fall Classic

Singles Draw

Spartanburg, S.C. – On a wet and rainy day that forced competition to be stopped earlier than anticipated, three members of the USC Upstate women's tennis team still managed to advance into the semifinals of the USC Upstate Fall Classic from the USC Upstate Tennis Complex.

Senior Taylor Cohen turned in the most impressive performance of the morning, as she defeated fourth-seeded Sarah Evans of Wofford 6-0, 6-0 in the A singles draw to earn a spot in the semifinals against top-seeded Lyn Yee Choo of ETSU.

Second-seeded Isabel von Stryk posted a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Audrey Coventry of Wofford to punch her ticket into the next round of the A singles draw, while fourth-seeded Talia Rojas downed Lucia Leahy of Presbyterian 6-4, 6-1 in the B singles draw to earn a match with No. 1 seed Salma Dahbi of ETSU in the semifinals.

Spartans Anna Zoske, Lindsey Buenger and Ana Baron were all scheduled to compete in the singles back draw on Saturday, but their matches were postponed until Sunday due to poor weather conditions.

Competition is scheduled to resume Sunday morning at 9 a.m.
