Niceville, Fla. - USC Upstate softball signee Jamie Ujvari nearly tossed a perfect game in leading defending 6A state champion Niceville High School to a 4-0 victory over Orange Park in the Region 1-6A championship game and into the state final four last Monday.
Ujvari, who along with twin sister Jessica, who is hitting .528 with eight home runs as the team's clean-up hitter, signed with Upstate during the early signing period last November. She struck out 15 batters en route to tossing a no-hitter against Orange Park. Her only blemish was when she hit a batter in the second inning. Other than that, she was perfect.
Ujvari's performance helped push Niceville into the 6A state semifinals against Eau Gallie Wednesday night at 7:00 pm in Clermont. Niceville will enter the game with a 28-2 record.
