Mid-Major Top 25 Poll

Spartanburg, S.C. – Following a four-win week last week, the USC Upstate softball team moved up one spot and cracked the top 10 in the latest Mid-Major Top 25 Poll release by midmajorpoll.blogspot.com.

Upstate (28-6) swept a non-conference doubleheader at North Carolina A&T and split its doubleheaders against Mercer and Kennesaw State to open A-Sun play last week. The four wins were enough to move the Spartans to No. 10 in the latest Mid-Major Top 25 poll. Upstate had been ranked 11th in the three previous polls.

Upstate also remained in the top 100 in the latest RPI report issued by the NCAA late Monday evening. The Spartans are ranked 84th in the latest report. The Spartans are the second-highest rated team in the state behind South Carolina (69th). Upstate is the fourth-highest ranked team in the A-Sun behind Lipscomb (58th), North Florida (72nd) and Jacksonville (75th).

Upstate will play host to Charleston Southern in a non-conference doubleheader Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at Cyrill Stadium. The Spartans will return to A-Sun play Saturday afternoon at 4:00, hosting a doubleheader against East Tennessee State at Cyrill Stadium.
