Spartanburg, S.C. – Voted on the by league’s administrators, the Atlantic Sun Conference announced Saturday that it has awarded the 2011 and 2012 Softball Championships to USC Upstate with games to be played at Cyrill Stadium.

Spartans Close Out Home Season Thursday Against Mountaineers
The USC Upstate softball team will close out the home portion of its schedule Thursday afternoon when it hosts Appalachian State in a non-conference doubleheader starting at 3:00 p.m. at Cyrill Stadium. The Spartans have not played since sweeping East Tennessee State on April 25, taking a break for final exams. They will use the ASU doubleheader to knock off the rust in preparation for a key A-Sun series at Campbell on Saturday. The Spartans enter Thursday with a 35-12 overall record. The Mountaineers have also not played since April 25. They enter the game with a 23-22 record. The teams have played just once in the series, splitting a doubleheader last year in Boone, N.C.
