Spartans Wrap Up Road Trip in River City

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate women's soccer team will conclude an eight-match road trip this weekend as the Spartans travel to the Sunshine State to face North Florida and Jacksonville. Friday's match begins at 7 p.m. while the Sunday contest begins at 2 p.m. 

Upstate is 5-5-1 after wrapping up the non-conference portion of its schedule with a 5-0 win at Bob Jones on Tuesday night. Emma Honis notched her third goal of the season in the second half while Delaney Bussey scored two of Upstate's four second-half goals. 

The Spartans are second in the ASUN in goals scored (20), shots (151) and corner kicks (55). 

North Florida is 7-2 overall and 1-0 in the ASUN following a 2-1 double overtime victory at Jacksonville last Saturday. The Ospreys are led by Thais Reiss with four goals, nine points and 39 shots. Krista Colubiale has scored three goals this season and is the reigning ASUN Player of the Week. Robin Confer is in her fourth season as head coach. 

Jacksonville is 2-6 following a 2-1 loss to North Florida. Joelle D'Entremont leads the team with two goals, five points and 32 shots. Brian Copham is in his tenth season as head coach. 

North Florida leads the all-time series 12-4-2 following a 4-3 overtime win in Spartanburg last year. Jacksonville holds an 8-1-1 all-time record against the Spartans including a 4-0 mark in Florida. The teams battled to a scoreless tie in Spartanburg last year in a match that was played in rain from Hurricane Matthew.

The Spartans return to County University Soccer Stadium next weekend, hosting Stetson on Friday at 7 p.m. and Florida Gulf Coast on Sunday at 1 p.m.
