USC Upstate Drops Non-Conference Finale at Florida Atlantic

Boca Raton, Fla. – The USC Upstate men's tennis team closed out the non-conference portion of its schedule on Friday morning with a 7-0 defeat to the Florida Atlantic Owls from the FAU Tennis Complex.

USC Upstate falls to 5-16 on the season while Florida Atlantic improves to 15-9 overall.

The Owls took an early 1-0 lead over the Spartans after capturing the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2. The No. 3 doubles combination of Felix Ewers and Luka Eble were trailing Arthur Stefani and Anthony Schohn 4-3 as the match went unfinished.

Florida Atlantic followed with six singles victories to record the 7-0 victory. Ewers sent his No. 1 match into the third set against Jason Legall after splitting the first two. Legall won the first set 7-5 before Ewers responded with a 6-2 win in the second. The third set featured extra points but Legall would hold on for the 10-6 win and take the match.
