Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate baseball team will play its final road game of the season on Tuesday as the Spartans travel to South Carolina for a 7 p.m. matchup against the Gamecocks.
Upstate is 22-29 overall and 5-13 in the ASUN Conference after being swept at Jacksonville last weekend. The Spartans were held to two runs on 17 hits in the series.
The Spartans are tied for the ASUN lead with 15 triples. Russell Schwertfeger is second in the conference with a team-leading four triples. Charlie Carpenter is tied for third in the conference with eight home runs and fourth with a .344 batting average.
South Carolina is 30-21 overall and 12-15 in the SEC after dropping a series at Missouri last weekend. The Gamecocks won Friday's opener before losses on Saturday and Sunday afternoon.
The Spartans are 0-11 all-time against the Gamecocks. Last season, South Carolina claimed a 12-6 victory over Upstate at Fluor Field on March 15 and a 4-1 win at Founders Park on May 4.
