LakePoint, Ga. – USC Upstate freshman Conner Campbell was named the ASUN Pitcher of the Week, conference officials announced today. It is Campbell's first weekly award of his career.
The Mauldin, S.C. native went 1-0 with a save in two appearances. On Wednesday, Campbell earned his second save of the season as he recorded the final two outs in Upstate's 6-5, 10-inning win at Presbyterian College.
Making his sixth start of the season on Friday, Campbell allowed one run on four hits with two walks and five strikeouts in a 2-1 complete game victory. Campbell retired 10 consecutive batters after an error allowed the first batter of the fourth inning to reach. Friday's game was the first complete game of Campbell's career and first for Upstate since the 2015 season.
Upstate hosts crosstown rival Wofford on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
