Winter Weather Forces Changes in Weekend Baseball Schedule

Spartanburg, S.C. – USC Upstate baseball head coach Matt Fincher announced Wednesday that the winter storm sweeping throughout the Upstate area has forced the alteration of this weekend's slate of baseball games.

The Spartans were originally scheduled to open the 2014 season Friday afternoon at 4 p.m. against George Mason, but will now begin the season Saturday at 1 p.m. against Ball State. Upstate will then face George Mason later in the day with first pitch set for 5 p.m.

Upstate will still host Dayton on Sunday, but first pitch will be pushed back to 11 a.m. George Mason and Morehead State will follow and will begin at 3 p.m. from Harley Park. The round-robin tournament was originally schedule to be a three-day tournament, but has been shortened to a two-day event with the new schedule listed below.

Saturday, February 15
Game 1 – Ball State vs. USC Upstate, 1 p.m.
Game 2 – George Mason vs. USC Upstate, 5 p.m.

Sunday, February 16
Dayton vs. USC Upstate, 11 a.m.
George Mason vs. Morehead State, 3 p.m.
