The “Pack the Hodge” campaign is aimed at selling out the season ticket allotment for the Hodge Center this season. The Hodge Center was named the 15th-best Division I college basketball arena for game atmosphere and experience by Stadium Journey Magazine. Upstate wants to build on the ranking and tradition to make this year an even better home court advantage for the Spartan basketball teams.
“We are hoping to have a sold out arena at all of our games this year,” said Upstate head men’s basketball coach Eddie Payne. “Our arena has been ranked the 15th-best in the country by Stadium Journey Magazine. We hope to build a home court advantage that will be tremendously advantageous for our team. Please help make that happen and join us at the Hodge Center.”
Both the men’s and women’s teams will play more home games this season in the Hodge Center than any other year since moving to Division I in 2007-08. The men’s team will play 17 homes games, up from 13 last year. The squad will also feature the three-day Spartanburg Marriott Upstate Classic over Thanksgiving, welcoming Cal State Fullerton, Florida International and Wright State to Spartanburg. The women’s team, led by head coach Tammy George, will play 14 home games, up from 12 a year ago.
