Spartans Return to Track at UCS Invitational

Spartanburg, S.C. – The USC Upstate indoor track and field teams will return to the JDL Fast Track on Saturday for the UCS Invitational in their final meet before the ASUN Championships next weekend.

Upstate had several top-10 finishes and personal bests at the Buccaneer Invitational two weeks ago. The Spartan distance runners had a solid performance led by Theodore Kountourogiannis and Griffin Eubanks with top-10 finishes in the 5,000-meter run. The sprinters were led by top-10 finishes in the 60-meter hurdles by Kennedy Holton and Jazmine Burse. Kayla Jordon finished in sixth place in the 400-meter dash.

In field events, Kalyn Brown continued her strong indoor season with a third place result in the shot put. Breondra Steele finished in fifth place in the high jump. In the men's triple jump, Desman Martin recorded a 10th place result.

Running events begin at 9:30 a.m. with preliminaries in the women's 60-meter hurdles. Field events also begin at the same time with the women's shot put.

Upstate will return to the JDL Fast Track next week for the ASUN Championships on Thursday and Friday.
