Charlotte, N.C. – Four USC Upstate track and field athletes recorded new personal-bests and Brenicke Johnson collected a top-five finish during the final day of competition at the 49er Classic from the Irwin Belk Track & Field Center.

Johnson picked up her second top-five performance this season in the 100-meter dash as she placed fifth in the event after running an 11.94 during the final. She qualified yesterday for the 100-meter dash final after finishing seventh in the preliminaries.

Along with the top-five finish by Johnson, four Spartans achieved new personal-bests while one tied a best mark. Brandon Goodman tied his personal-best in the high jump as his leap of 1.95-meters led to an 11th place finish.

The women's 4x100-meter relay team of Johnson, Draneisha Griffin, Ashley Edmond and Heaven Briggs finished seventh with a time of 47.48.

The Spartans travel to Raleigh, N.C. next weekend (Mar. 28-29) for the Raleigh Relays hosted by North Carolina State University.
