Josh Gallman Men's Golf

Men's golfer Josh Gallman has been named the Sprint Spartan of the Week after turning in a solid performance at the 102nd Southern Amateur Championship last weekend.

Gallman, a rising junior from Gaffney, S.C., claimed a top 25 finish in a field of 168 competitors at the Southern Amateur, a tournament that is rich in tradition and carried with it a spot in the PGA Tour's 2009 Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill for the winner. Gallman fired a pair of 69's in the 72-hole tournament and finished the event with a 3-under-par 285 total to finish in a tie for 24th.

Gallman was an A-Sun All-Conference selection in 2007-08 after leading Upstate to two team championships in its first season playing on the Division I level. He won four individual championships and was named the A-Sun Golfer of the Month three of the six times it was awarded.
