Susan Kolb is in her fourth year as the Athletic Academic Advisor at USC Upstate.
Kolb came to Upstate after serving as an Academic Coordinator at George Mason University. She worked collaboratively with student-life and was a liaison between student services, professors and the athletic department.
Prior to her time at George Mason, Kolb was an administrator and head women’s soccer coach at Eastern Mennonite University. She began her stint at the university as head coach of the women’s program and held the position from 2011-14. Four months into her stint with the Royals, she was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director of Student-Athlete Well-Being. A year later, she took on the role as Senior Woman Administrator. As a coach, she took over a program that had not had a winning season since 2008 and in her third year, built the program into a winning team with an above. 500 record. As an administrator, she oversaw academics, graduate assistants, and helped with student-athlete programming.
Kolb got her start in college coaching at Bluffton University, serving as an assistant coach from 2009-11. She also served as a team coach and soccer trainer at Messiah College during the summers from 2011-13.
Kolb was a standout student-athlete at Davis & Elkins College. She was a four-year letter-winner on the women’s soccer program and earned all-conference and all-academic honors. She graduated in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Social Science. She went on to earn a master’s degree in Instructional Leadership from Bluffton in 2010 and is currently working on her Ph.D. in Athletic Administration from Northcentral University.
A native of Salisbury, Pa., she graduated from Salisbury-Elk Lick High School.
