Kanett Haynes is in her eighth year as the Athletics Business Manager at USC Upstate. She is also a budget analyst for the Administrative and Business Affairs Department.
Her responsibilities include the day-to-day operation of the Athletics Business Office including accounts payables, budget analysis and reporting, journal entries, cash/revenue collection, purchasing, team travel and recruiting travel reimbursements and NCAA audits/financial reporting. She attends, presents, and participates in semi-annual University budget workshops; provide technical advice and assistance to entry level accountants or other university staff with fiscal related matters and assists the budget manager with special projects. Kanett also serves as a member of USC Upstate’s Staff Council.
Haynes is a 1997 graduate of the University of Central Florida, earning a bachelor's degree in Public Administration in 1997. She earned an Associate of Arts degree from Indian River Community College in 1995. After relocating to Spartanburg in 2007, she earned an Associate in Accounting with electives in Information Systems from Spartanburg Community College.
Prior to earning her associate degree from SCC and entering the field of college athletics, Haynes had a successful career working in county government in Florida and South Carolina. She began her career as a Fiscal Services Analyst in the Orange County Government in Orlando, Fla., from 1997-2004. She developed budgets in accordance with program needs, reported monthly judicial caseload statistics, conducted research and monitored monthly budget and fiscal activities.
She left her position in Orange County and became a Senior Analyst for the Seminole County Government in Sanford, Fla., from 2005-07. Her responsibilities included acting as a liaison and assisting departments with all budget related matters, analyzing departmental budget requests and revenue estimates, formulating recommendations, monitoring the expenditure of funds to be consistent with county goals and operational objectives, ensuring compliance with regulatory guidelines and providing fiscal accountability. She prepared quarterly reports, expenditure and revenue projections, budget amendments, and budget transfers. Additionally, she attended budget workshops and assisted in the preparation of the annual budget book publication.
Haynes and her family relocated to Spartanburg in 2007 where she began a one-year stint as a Budget Analyst for the Spartanburg County Government. She assisted with budget analysis, budget preparation, budget requests and assisted in the development and implementation of the new local hospitality tax, among a myriad of other duties.
Haynes is a native of Vero Beach, Fla., and attended Vero Beach High School. She and her husband, Jimmy, are the proud parents of four children; Xzavier, Charity, Harmony and Jimmy, Jr. The couple's oldest son, Xzavier, is a 2016 graduate of Davidson College and is currently traveling abroad in Africa, Jamaica, Belize and India since being awarded the post-graduate Thomas J. Watson Fellowship, a one-year independent exploration outside of the USA.
Haynes is a volunteer for Mobile Meals of Spartanburg and attends New Life in Christ Ministries where she is the monthly Youth Day Coordinator and a Youth Bible Study Teacher.
