Dr. Robbie Davis is in his first season as the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance at USC Upstate.
Davis comes to Upstate after serving as the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and Student-Athlete Welfare at East Tennessee State from 2013-16, while also working as a Developer and Adjunct Faculty for Global Sport Leadership Ed.D. Program since 2014.
As the Associate A.D. for Compliance and Student-Athlete Welfare, Davis’ main responsibility was supervising over compliance and student-athlete academic services, while working as sport administrator for men’s and women’s cross country/track & field. He was one of three major developers who played a major role in creating the doctoral program for Global Sport Leadership.
Prior to joining ETSU, Davis was the Assistant Athletic Director of Compliance at Radford University from 2009-13 where he was responsible for all NCAA- or university-related compliance tasks, including all waivers, interpretations and education. Davis served on several administrative committees, and led two successful completions of Big South Conference compliance reviews and one APR review. He was the sport administrator for men’s soccer and cross country/track & field.
Davis earned his Ph.D. and master’s degree from Virginia Tech, receiving his Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction in 2006 and his master’s in health and physical education in 2000.
He worked in several roles during his tenure at Virginia Tech beginning in 1999 as a graduate assistant certified athletic trainer until 2001 working with the wrestling, men’s soccer, baseball, volleyball, dance, women’s lacrosse, swimming and tennis programs. Davis then worked as an administrative graduate assistant for the Virginia Tech women’s soccer program from 2001-03 and compliance intern/coordinator from 2003-05.
Davis received his bachelor’s degree in exercise and sport science from East Carolina in 1999. Working as a student athletic trainer at ECU from 1995-99, Davis covered several intercollegiate athletic programs including football, baseball, men's swimming and diving, men’s cross country/track & field and women’s soccer.
He was the recipient of East Carolina’s football 12th Man Award in 1998.
Davis’ wife, Kara, is the Associate Director of Metropolitan Engagement at USC Upstate.
