Cameron Buchanan is in her third year as an Athletic Trainer at USC Upstate.
Buchanan came to Upstate after receiving a master's degree in Athletic Training from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in May of 2010. While with the Mocs, she worked with the men's and women's basketball, football, volleyball and wrestling programs. In addition, she was awarded a graduate assistantship working with the ATEP Director in maintaining CAATE Certification.
Buchanan received a bachelor's degree in Exercise Science from Ole Miss in 2008. She served as an intern with the sports medicine department, working with a number of programs including men's and women's basketball, baseball, softball, soccer and tennis.
She began the master's program at UTC in 2008 and gained valuable experience in between her first and second year in the program during the summer of 2009. She traveled with Athletes In Action for its Sports Performance Mission Tirip to Armenia in 2009. She worked at Camp Woodward, providing care for camp participants in a variety of sports including gymnastics, BMX, inline skating and cheerleading. In addition to her work at UTC, she worked at Baylor High School monitoring practices for the football, soccer, cross country, swimming/diving and fencing teams as part of her clinical rotation.
Buchanan is a member of several professional organizations. She currently serves as a member of the National Atheltic Trainers' Association, the Tennessee Athletic Trainers' Society, the Southeast Athletic Trainers' Society and Athletes in Action. She also served as the Vice President and Secretary of the UTC Graduate Student Association. She is NATA Board Certified and is certified as an American Red Cross CPR/AED Professional Rescuer and Lifeguard.
Buchanan is a native of Jasper, Ga., and participated in soccer and cross country at Pickens High School. She also twirled baton for the Dragons. She likes to travel and go wakeboarding.
